These designs created within a circle have been around for centuries. They originated with Tibetan monks and were studied by psychologist Carl Jung. There is a new surge of popularity with these designs. This is a one-of-a-kind kit that introduces children to the history and significance of the mandala. The instruction book explains step-by-step how to create them with three different craft methods. You can use colored pencils to color the mandala in the coloring book or the paper covered sticker sheets. You can peel back the paper, uncover the sticker sheets to color the stickers with sand section by section or you can use the canvas glue circle stencil and sand provided to create and decorate original fine art styles. The kit comes complete with everything the child needs to create these designs. The unique design of the sand pens include what makes what could be potentially messy, a neat experience. Everything is enclosed in an easy-to-carry case that opens like a book so it makes it ideal to take along wherever they go.

Walter Foster was born in 1891 in Colorado. He invented the first postage stamp vending machine. In the 1920s he began to develop art instruction books. The company developed since the 1960s and has been for more than 80 years providing quality art instruction kits and specialty products. The kit includes the project book with information about the history and tradition, the coloring book, glue, three sand art boards, nine sand pens, circle stencil, three glitter colors, six paper masked sticker sheets with precut designs and six two-sided colored pencils. The component tray can be resealed.
