Families and Friends Play Games for One Million Minutes

Beloit, Wis. -- Patch Products, along with supporters Sylvan Learning Center, KOA Kampgrounds, the USO and Great Wolf Lodge Family Resorts, is proud to announce that families and friends from across the country have logged over one million minutes of game play during the 2004 Million Minute Family Challenge™!

The Million Minute Family Challenge is a grassroots effort encouraging interaction and communication among family and friends through playing board games. Thousands of clubs, schools, libraries, retailers and families from across the United States participated in the 2004 Million Minute Family Challenge with the top five minute logging groups as follows:

  1. Games Club of Maryland
  2. Columbus (OH) Area Boardgaming Society
  3. California Homeschool Network
  4. Wapehani Girl Scout Council (Daleville, IN)
  5. Outpost 2000 & Beyond (Brooklyn Park, MN)

Congratulations also to the Ice Family of Tahlequah Oklahoma, which logged the most game playing minutes for a single family!

“This is the fourth year we have organized the Million Minute Family Challenge but the first year we have reached one million minutes,” says Lisa Wuennemann, Director of Communications at Patch Products. “Board games bring people together and provide them an opportunity to communicate and interact. They are a great activity for family gatherings and an ice-breaker for parties. Plus games are economical. For $25 a family or group of friends can have any evening of entertainment.”
